The Keepers

The Keepers explores memory as something that is preserved rather than remembered.

Three monumental presences emerge from an atmosphere suspended between earth and light. They are neither architecture nor figures, but silent witnesses carrying the traces of countless lives. Their surfaces reveal fragments of an unknown visual language—symbols, marks and impressions that appear, disappear and re-emerge through layers of texture and light.

The vertical fissures of gold do not decorate the forms; they suggest an inner presence, as though light itself has been held within them for centuries.

Built through oil, volcanic textures, carved surfaces and gold leaf, the painting exists between monument and memory, inviting the viewer to contemplate what remains when time erases names but not presence.

Materials & Technique

Created using oil paint over layered sculptural textures, the surface incorporates volcanic materials, hand-carved symbols and delicate applications of gold leaf. Multiple translucent glazes allow forms to emerge gradually from the atmosphere, while the textured relief creates shifting perceptions of light depending on the viewer’s position.

Concept

Some presences do not protect.

They endure.

The Keepers are not guardians in the traditional sense. They are silent witnesses carrying fragments of memory, language and time. Their surfaces preserve traces of countless passages, while their luminous cores suggest that what is essential is never entirely lost.

The painting reflects on permanence—not through certainty, but through what continues to exist beneath erosion, silence and forgetting.
