A Place Called Solitude explores solitude not as isolation, but as a place of encounter. An open threshold stands quietly within a vast monochrome landscape, inviting the viewer toward a space where silence becomes presence and stillness becomes a form of understanding. The mountains do not represent a physical destination, but an inner landscape that exists beyond words.

Created during Cristina Gabriela’s transition into oil painting, the work reflects the beginning of a visual language that would later become central to her practice. The doorway appears without explanation, neither promising arrival nor departure. It simply exists, waiting to be witnessed. The surrounding atmosphere dissolves the boundary between earth and sky, allowing the landscape to feel suspended between reality and memory.
