Cristina Gabriela Buzatu at work in her studio, creating contemporary paintings and installations that explore silence, truth, and the human condition.

Cristina Gabriela is a contemporary artist based in Dubai, creating original paintings, sculptures and installations that explore silence, thresholds, memory and the human condition.

Working across oil painting, mixed media, clay and sculptural installation, her practice investigates the spaces between presence and absence, light and darkness, permanence and transformation. Rather than illustrating narratives, her works create environments where viewers are invited to pause, reflect and bring their own experiences into dialogue with the work.

Recurring elements — solitary figures, doors, stairways, landscapes, architectural fragments and textured surfaces — form a visual language that travels throughout her collections. These are not symbols with fixed meanings.

They are quiet invitations to contemplate what lies beyond certainty.

Every artwork is built through layers of material. Texture is never decorative; it carries time, memory and physical presence. Oil paint, earth-like surfaces, sculptural clay and carefully controlled light become essential parts of the narrative, allowing each work to exist between painting, sculpture and installation.

Cristina's work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections. Through immersive installations and contemporary paintings, she creates experiences that encourage slow looking rather than immediate interpretation.

She believes that art should not answer questions.

It should remain with us long after we leave it.

Today, Cristina continues to develop new bodies of work from her studio in Dubai, creating museum-quality contemporary artworks for collectors, galleries and exhibitions worldwide.
