Held in Suspension
Original artwork by Cristina Gabriela.
Held in Suspension reflects on the invisible bond between human existence and the forces that accompany us throughout life. A small terracotta figure stands quietly, holding an open vessel while remaining connected by a delicate thread to a suspended sphere. Neither fully held nor completely released, the sphere exists in a state of suspension, echoing the way we move through life—between memory and destiny, certainty and uncertainty, what has been lived and what remains beyond us.
Rather than defining what the sphere represents, the sculpture leaves that meaning open to the viewer. The connection is universal, yet its meaning is deeply personal. The vessel held by the figure is equally significant. Empty by design, it becomes a space capable of receiving experience rather than offering certainty.
Created as part of Cristina Gabriela’s ongoing exploration of witnessing, presence and the unseen dimensions of the human condition, Held in Suspension invites us to contemplate the invisible connections that shape our lives and all that remains beyond our understanding.
