Hipomonē

A solitary presence remains beneath the weight of darkness, held by a light that refuses to disappear.

Original artwork by Cristina Gabriela.

Hipomone takes its name from the Greek word for endurance—not passive waiting, but the strength to remain beneath weight without surrender.

A solitary figure bends beneath a dense, volcanic presence. Her form appears fragile, almost dissolving, but she does not disappear. Darkness becomes pressure, while light becomes the quiet force that keeps her present.

This work speaks about the strength that cannot always be seen from the outside. She is not falling. She is carrying what cannot be seen.

Created as part of the same evolving body of work as Metaxy, Ananke and Ichnos, Hipomone continues Cristina Gabriela’s exploration of the human condition through shadow, light and silence.
