Echoes of Pompeii
Echoes of Pompeii is inspired by one of history’s most extraordinary archaeological sites, where architecture continues to preserve the memory of an entire civilization.
Created entirely with coffee on paper, the work depicts the enduring presence of Pompeii’s ancient ruins, not as a historical reconstruction, but as a meditation on time, permanence and human existence. The surviving columns and weathered structures become silent witnesses to lives once lived, reminding us that while civilizations may vanish, the spaces they create continue to carry their stories.
Using only coffee, the warm monochromatic palette echoes the colours of volcanic earth, aged stone and the passing of centuries. The work invites contemplation of the fragile relationship between humanity and time, transforming an ancient place into a timeless reflection on memory and endurance.
